Our Story

Established in 2019 by Dr. Mrs. Hadiza Gana Mohammed , a compassionate humanitarian and visionary leader, the Hina Gana Foundation was born from a profound commitment to uplift Nigeria's most vulnerable populations. Dr. Hadiza recognized two critical gaps in social services: the plight of street-connected children deprived of education and safety, and the dire needs of at-risk pregnant women lacking proper healthcare. This dual focus became the cornerstone of our organization's mission. Over five years of transformative work, Hina Gana Foundation has evolved from a local initiative to a nationally recognized humanitarian force, directly impacting over 2,000 lives.

Problem

Lives at risk. Futures limited. A cycle that must be broken.

Nigeria faces significant development challenges that demand urgent attention. Current data reveals 40% of the population lives below the poverty line, with 37% of children under five experiencing stunted growth due to malnutrition. The education sector struggles with 10.5 million out-of-school children, disproportionately affecting orphans and street-connected youth. Maternal healthcare gaps persist, as rural women face three times higher mortality rates during childbirth compared to urban areas. Urban centers like Lagos contend with an estimated 100,000 homeless individuals facing heightened vulnerability.

Our Mission

To operate a humanitarian non-profit organization, with a passion to bring smiles to the faces of the less privileged, people with disabilities and pregnant women in needs; and children on the streets.

Our Vision

To be a global player in rendering life support and charitable programmes to humanity, by providing freely for the needy in the larger Society.

Our Core Values

We listen deeply to the communities we serve and act with purpose driving measurable, life changing impact today while investing in a lasting legacy that empowers future generations.

Our Leadership Team

OUR SOLUTION

Community-led solutions that restore dignity and create opportunity.

The Hina Gana Foundation tackles Nigeria's interconnected crises through targeted, scalable interventions. For street-connected children, we provide immediate rescue through shelters, trauma counseling, and nutritional support, coupled with long-term solutions like school reintegration programs and vocational training in high-demand skills like tech and agribusiness. For at-risk mothers, we deploy mobile prenatal clinics, emergency transport systems, and postnatal microgrants to reduce maternal mortality and break poverty cycles. Our cross-cutting approach combines urban farming cooperatives to address food insecurity, apprenticeship programs for youth employability, and advocacy for policy changes benefiting vulnerable populations.

Programs & Activities

BACK-TO-SCHOOL INITIATIVE

We combat generational poverty by reintegrating street-connected and underprivileged children into formal education systems. Our comprehensive program provides full academic sponsorship covering school fees, uniforms, and learning materials, removing financial barriers to education.

BIRTH-A-CHILD PROGRAM:

This initiative transforms maternal healthcare access for at-risk pregnant women in underserved communities. We distribute complete maternal care kits containing sterile delivery supplies, newborn essentials, and hygiene products to prevent infections. Our network of midwives conducts prenatal education workshops in local languages, covering danger signs and postpartum care.

Outreach to IDPs & Orphanages:

Our mobile response teams deliver targeted aid to displaced populations and institutionalized children through three core interventions. Monthly relief caravans distribute food baskets and hygiene kits to 8,000+ IDPs across three camps, with special pediatric nutrition packs for malnourished children. During religious holidays, we organize celebratory meals and gift distributions, restoring moments of joy for 1,200+ orphanage residents annually.
